The Yamaha DSP-AX761 is a 7.1-channel AV amplifier with an extensive range of home theatre functions including Yamaha's new SCENE, 1080p-compatible HDMI, improved YPAO sound optimisation and iPod compatibility. Full iPod control is available via the optional Yamaha YDS-10 docking station.
The simplicity of the Yamaha DSPAX 761 amplifier is enhanced by the new SCENE buttons. They are initially set to default settings for DVD Movie Viewing, Music Disc Listening, TV Viewing and Radio Listening. Pressing a SCENE button automatically launches a number of operations that initiate play of the source controlled by that button. Other SCENE settings are also available, such as iPod Listening, TV Sports Viewing and Action Game Playing.
When music is encoded in a digital compressed format such as MP3, frequency response suffers in the high and low ranges. Yamaha's Compressed Music Enhancer employs sophisticated digital signal processing with exclusive algorithms, enabling faithful reproduction of the original music, for the excellent sound expected from top class receivers.
Pure Direct is a special amplfier mode that causes the signal to bypass all but the most basic audio circuitry, and even turns off the display to prevent any chance of noise interference. It provides the purest possible high fidelity sound from all sources including HDMI inputs. Bi-amping is another feature to improve 2 channel reproduction that lets you enjoy superior sound quality. It assigns the surround back channels to provide separate low frequency and mid/high frequency allocation to the front channels, thus improving sound clarity in all frequency ranges.
With the Yamaha DSPA-X761 AV amplifier, you have a choice of 17 unique Yamaha DSP surround programmes to bring out the full audio potential of your entertainment sources. Yamaha's Night Listening Enhancer offers two modes, Cinema and Music, with three-level selectability, which will ensure that you don't miss movie dialogue or quiet passages, or lose overall surround spaciousness even during low volume listening late at night.
This 7.1 home cinema amplifier uses extremely high performance Burr Brown 192kHz/24-bit digital-to-analogue converters for all channels. The DACs provide accurate sound field reproduction for high quality multi-channel sources, and outstanding separation and precise musical delineation for two-channel sources. Coupled with it's extremely wide frequency range of 10Hz to 100kHz, this receiver is capable of delivering the full potential of the new digital audio sources such as DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD.
The Yamaha DSPA-X761 has an improved YPAO system that analyses the acoustics of your room and adjusts the level of the selected bands to create a cohesive sound field in the room. You can vary the type of the parametric equalizer adjustment among Natural, Flat and Front.
Finally, 2 (1.2a) HDMI and 3 component video inputs offer higher picture quality, for use with units such as DVD players that have HDMI (up to 1080p) or Component Video (up to 1080i) outputs, making this amplifier compatible with HDTV (720p / 1080i / 1080p). The Yamaha DSP-AX761 is equipped with high-definition video upconversion circuitry incorporating high-performance video encoder/decoders from Analog Devices. A Time Base Corrector (TBC) transforms degraded analogue video signals into a stable format for distortion-free viewing.
